Doug Welton

Mr. Welton's Platform

Why are you running for office?

Local government is where the rubber hits the road. Decisions made at the local level have a much more immediate impact on residents. It is arguably the most important level, and the most overlooked level of government. Everything done at the local level affects residents in some form or another. It is also the level of government most accessible and closest to the people.

Why is local government important to you?

How to responsibly handle the expected growth.

How do you plan to connect with voters?

I regularly communicate through Facebook, email, Messenger, and phone. We have also had several open houses for residents to come and discuss city issues.

How will you target young people (18 to 35 year olds) and non-voting members of the community in your campaign?

I use social media (Facebook) a lot. It's not Instagram, but I feel I can give more better information through an easy to access forum. I plan on adding Instagram. I also like to participate in meet the candidate events, and elected official round tables hosted by young adults, and anyone really. I would love to host or attend a an open house event for young adults and candidates.

What do you want voters to know about you?

I love Payson! I have lived here most of my life, and plan to live here until I die. I love the outdoors and spend a lot of time in Payson Canyon. I enjoy working with youth and teach a variety of subjects including Debate, Current Issues, Japanese , and Philosophy. You can find me most weekends with high school students at debate tournaments. I love seeing students get involved and encourage them to be active in their communities.
